Harold Porter Botanical Garden had won South Africa’s 35th gold medal in 41 years at exhibiting at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show. They will re-created this display in the centre of the marine tent dividing Above & Below. The plants from the garden, located as it is within the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, are unique. This is a place of such natural beauty and complex floral diversity to be recognised as perhaps the world’s greatest biodiversity hot-spot. Sea Search

Sea Search

Visiting the Sea Search stand, people will be able to engage with both national and international marine mammal scientists, and learn about the research conducted on whales and dolphins along the Western Cape Coast. More specifically, you will learn which different species of whales and dolphins you can observe in this area, including the southern right whale, the humpback whale, the Bryde's whale, the bottlenose dolphin, common dolphin, humpback dolphin, Heaviside's dolphin and dusky dolphin. We will also show you how you can identify each species and each individual (!) and when and where is best to see them. You will also find out how we investigate their behaviour and distribution, and what the most important (new) research findings are related to these magnificent animals!
